Barcelona star ‘wants Tottenham move’

Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes is expected to leave the Nou Camp this summer.

Big things were expected of the Portuguese international when he signed following an impressive two-year spell with Valencia.

But he failed to live up to the hype, struggling for form and unable to win a regular place in the Barca first team.

The Catalan giants are ready to offload the 24-year-old this summer and there has been a wealth of links to Premier League sides, most notably north London rivals Tottenham and Arsenal.

Juventus were also interested, with the Italian side and the Gunners thought to be leading the race for his signature.

A move away from the Nou Camp has heightened in the last 24 hours with the news that Gomes has not been included in their squad for the pre-season trip to America.

Reports in Spain suggest that the 24-year-old is keen on a move to the Premier League and while Juve and Arsenal are said to be the closest to signing him, Mundo Deportivo report that he wants to join Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham.

Spurs were linked with a move for him last year, but could not make the deal happen. He is expected to cost them around £18 million if they do make a move this summer.
