New Year, New Memories!

Tottenham Hotspur set to face Chelsea in the Semi Finals of the Carabao Cup on 8th January 2019.

In just five days time, Tottenham will play Chelsea in the semi finals of the Carabao Cup which will be played over two legs.

After winning 2-0 against Arsenal at The Emirates in the quarter final, Spurs are one step closer to winning an all important trophy this season.

As many will agree, Tottenham have improved immensely over the last few years and we have seen them finish as high as second in the Premier League, however despite all their efforts they have still failed to win any silverware since 2008 when they beat Chelsea 2-1 in the League Cup.

Spurs are currently sitting second in the Premier League, with Manchester City just one point behind. Many football fans believe the League is only a two horse race between City and Liverpool, but on the other-hand there are still some fans out there that believe Tottenham have all it takes this year to win the Premier League.

Personally, I think it will be extremely tough to break down the league leaders Liverpool, who have up until now been fantastic. Manchester City have surprisingly lost a few games recently which has cost them massively, however I do predict that they will get back on track very soon and will be the ones to chase. That being said, I have every bit of belief that Spurs will not give up easily and will fight to reach the very top. Considering Tottenham did not spend any money in the summer and have had no stadium, for them to be currently sat second in the Premier League, in the final 16 of the Champions League and in the Semi Finals of the League Cup, it is incredible and no one can deny that! The young squad Pochettino has built show so much strength and determination – the strongest and most promising Spurs side I have watched in many years.

Tottenham are undoubtedly a team full of extreme potential and have been a joy to watch, but they are not always a team that have been taken very seriously by rivals and the media, which is clearly due to the lack of silverware that they have failed to acquire in recent years. Spurs desperately need to start adding some trophies to their name again and now is the time to show everyone just what this young squad are all about and what they can really achieve. Dare I say it? – This could be ‘our year!’
