The Daily Mail today report that Tottenham Hotspur are open to the introduction of safe standing at their new stadium.
The Premier League have recently written to all top flight clubs to try and gauge their interest. Standing areas have been outlawed in English football’s top two divisions since the tragic Hillsborough disaster in 1989.
However, Tottenham are among the teams interested in implementing a standing area again and a club spokesperson confirmed this:
“We have consistently said that we would be open to investigating the opportunity to incorporate safe standing within our new stadium should legislation and licencing permit this.”
