Everton manager Ronald Koeman is said to be keen on a swap deal with Spurs which would see Ross Barkley moving to White Hart Lane.
The 23-year-old has struggled for consistency this season with Koeman growing increasingly frustrated at his abject performances.
It is believed with only 18 months left on his current deal Everton will be open to offers for Barkley in January and Spurs under Pochettino are long term admirers of the England international.
The former Southampton boss would instead of selling the player prefer to negotiate a deal involving Tottenham’s Moussa Sissoko.
Like Barkley, Sissoko has also failed to impress this season.
The France international snubbed a move to Goodison Park in favour of joining Tottenham for £30million on deadline day however Koeman is said to still be keen on the player.
