WSL Match Report: Chelsea 1-0 Spurs

24,564 fans attended the first London derby in the Women’s Super League between Chelsea and Spurs this past weekend.  The game was held at Stamford Bridge and shattered Chelsea Women’s previous attendance record helped largely by the club giving out free tickets for the fixture.

Before Christmas Spurs will be hosting a game at their new stadium for the Women’s team and so another opportunity for a big attendance as the women’s game hopes to capitalise on the wave of new support following the World Cup this past summer.

In the actual game Chelsea struck early with an incredible strike from England and that ended up being the only goal of the game however Tottenham Women can be very proud of their performance in their first outing against a Chelsea side who will be looking to challenge for the title this season.

Tottenham host Liverpool in their next game, Sunday 15th September.
