Admin SJ Blog – One way or another it ends tomorrow

You know things must be bad when I once again fetch my typewriter (laptop) of rage and start a new blog and yes, once again, things are bad.  Here we are, one game away from potentially playing Championship football next season.  To be clear, that is Championship – not Champions League… for the Ted Lasso fans out there it can be confusing to those fans around the world that is for sure.

We were last relegated from the top flight of English football in 1977.  I was born in 1983.  I am sadly old now in our fandom and I know that and so, especially with fandom online, the vast majority reading this have never been on this Earth when Tottenham were not a top flight club.

In the season that followed relegation we finished 3rd in the then second division, securing automatic promotion (back before the play-offs) but even back then it was not an easy division to drop down into and we as a club I fear are not prepared for the reality of dropping down now… the Championship is a very tough league, its up there in terms of teams who can compete with some of the top leagues around Europe.  It is just my opinion obviously but I would wager some of the teams we beat in the Europa league last season and even Champions league this season would struggle week in, week out in the Championship.

However should I even be thinking about this or worrying about it?  I believe there are eight possible outcomes from Sunday in the relegation battle, eight cogitations… and in only ONE of them are we relegated… just one…West Ham Utd win and we lose.  That is it, that alone sends us down but would I really be a Tottenham fan if I did not focus on that ONE possible outcome?!

When there is a chance for us to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory I have seen us do it to many times to not be terrified we are about to do it on a hug scale this weekend. I am terrified but that is not the point of this blog… the point is actually this… I am so glad this season is about to be over, no matter what happens.

Do not get me wrong, I do not want us relegated, I want us to pull a Leicester and go from relegation do fight to winning the title next season (all set up by the way, no Europe.. biggest clubs in Man City new manager and Arsenal will fall off as no mentality to kick on again after doing it finally … I hope… all set for a dark horse to emerge… top laughing, a man can dream..) BUT I have reached a point I just want it over, it has been torture for months and I am actually feeling ill because of it.

I know that is a silly thing to admit but I am, its impacting my sleep, my day to day life.  People in my family are from Bristol, most are die hard Bristol City fans and I am hearing about it 24/7 how much they cannot wait to play Spurs next season, how much they want to go to our ‘snazzy stadium’ in the big smoke and all this other banter crap and I know my family do not really want me driven crazy but it really is driving me that way.

Friends who are Arsenal, Chelsea etc etc all just on cloud 9… one saying seeing us relegated would be like getting a blow job on Christmas morning from Sydney Sweeney –  better than any trophy his team have ever won.  We should really analyse at some point why people hate us THAT much but not today…

So tomorrow is going to suck, we all know even if we do it and stay up we will not do it the easy way… I actually feel I would be better off supporting Leeds Utd and hoping they can get a result at West Ham to take it out of our hands… but lets face it, last day of the season they will not be at it… not like Everton managed by West Ham loving David Moyes…. so much like our captain, I wish I was not there to see this!

However unlike our current captain I will be back next season.  No matter what league we are in… I cannot wait for this to be over and what comes next to begin just so the living on edge can end… but as much as I hate ENIC, I have Vinai and Lange and all the others who have done this shit to us… I am Tottenham til I die, in the Champions league or the Championship.  COYS!!
