Hello and welcome to my weekly blog where I type about Tottenham Hotspur, in addition to the podcast I do where I talk about Tottenham Hotspur – its no wonder doctors keep checking me for depression!
This week there was no men’s first team to ruin my mood. The international break is happening, the new extended one where we now will not play again until the 10th of October; when we travel to Old Trafford to face Carrick and his Manchester United team.
I saw a fan account for Man Utd recently do a video to over 500,000 followers talking about Carrick as a player claiming they signed him from West Ham as he chose Man Utd over Tottenham who showed an interest. I was not sure if this account was attempting parody but based on age could well be someone who has googled it and got it wrong – then stated it a fact – the internet is an odd place, its mad what people will claim and people will read and assume its fact. Anyway, enough about Carrick, the former body builder and Mr Universe who became a footballer manager.
So with no men to disappoint me this past week I checked out a Tottenham Women’s game and found they do this really odd thing, I am not sure if this is just unique to women’s football – maybe readers can tell me – but they, even though they are wearing a Spurs kit – SCORE GOALS AND WIN GAMES!
I watched the ladies absolutely destroy Aston Villa at the weekend 4-0 and they now sit second in the Women’s Super League after four games played (three won, one draw). Their next league game is Sunday, at home, against London City and kick off is 2pm.
Before the next league game however the ladies will travel to Brighton in the group stage of the Women’s League Cup, that is Wednesday night, kick off 7:45pm.

The men’s first team all took a week off this week. With many players away on international duty the group that remain will be working with De Zerbi from today on fitness and also trying to get some confidence back – the team is lacking that badly and its clear for anyone to see.
Football is a results business and is very; “what have you done for me lately” when it comes to managers. De Zerbi had a big impact and kept us up, however, this season after a massive spend in the summer has started badly and given how long the owners took to sack Thomas Frank I do wonder how long before he is in very serious trouble.
In my opinion the October fixtures are huge. If displays continue to show good signs and results start to happen, finally goals and a couple of wins – I think he is safe… BUT if at the end of October we remain in the relegation zone I think the club will need to act to bring someone in who has time to assess the squad and then make changes in January to save us.
I cannot quite believe it but I fear we are once again going to be worried about relegation this season UNLESS things change and soon. (By the way I really hope people can bring me back to this in a few months and remind me how worried I was for nothing….)
