A “lack of passion” cost us – Pochettino

Our first game in the Champions League for 5 years ended in defeat against Monaco. It was a disappointing performance given the amount of build up and record attendance at the game.

It was a night you’d expect the players to be up for… However, Pochettino has reportedly questioned the “passion” showed by our players. He’s quoted by Goal.com saying:

We need to be more aggressive in possession, when we have the possibility to score, we need to be more, more aggressive,

We need to show more hunger, we need to show more passion. I think we showed a lack of passion today.”

It’s worrying to hear that our manager is questioning the passion in the team. Under no point under his management have I questioned this. Perhaps the sales of academy graduates Ryan Mason and Andros Townsend have hurt the dressing room?

In any case – I’d hate to be a player at Hotspur Way today. Pochettino looked furious both during the game and in the post match interviews. He will put things right for Sunderland on Sunday and make sure we come out fighting for the rest of our Champions League matches.
