Alderweireld and Kane to be offered new deals

TOTTENHAM are poised to offer star defender Toby Alderweireld a bumper new deal, while also looking to extend Harry Kane’s stay.

The 28-year-old’s contract expires in 2019, and there were fears he could be sold in the summer with the club refusing to break their wage structure.

Boss Mauricio Pochettino recently told fans to trust chairman Daniel Levy, and it looks as though dreams have come true for Spurs supporters.

The Independent report Tottenham are hoping to commit Alderweireld to a new a deal in the next few weeks until 2020.

However, this would trigger a clause that would allow the Belgian international to leave North London for a fee of £25million in the summer of 2019.

The ex-Atletico Madrid centre-back’s agent revealed back in October that “seven or eight” clubs were vying for his signature, and urged Spurs to either tie him down, or sell him.

But his representatives will meet with the club this weekend, where it has been reported that sources close to the player believe a new offer is imminent.

It comes as great news for Lilywhites fans with striker Kane ready to sign a new one-year deal to stay with Pochettino’s men until 2023.

SunSport reported on Thursday that the 24-year-old is set to pocket in the region of £200,000-a-week, to make him the highest paid Englishman in the Premier League.

The former Leyton Orient and Millwall loanee has been in inspired form yet again this season – breaking Alan Shearer’s 22-year record of most top-flight goals scored in a calendar year.
