Toby Alderweireld is to be assessed within the next 48 hours with concerns the Tottenham defender has suffered a knee injury.
The 27-year-old was stretchered off after colliding with team-mate Jan Vertonghen in the second half of Spurs’ 1-1 draw at West Brom.
Alderweireld appeared in serious pain and received lengthy treatment before attempting, but failing, to carry on in the game.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino, who replaced Alderweireld with Eric Dier, said: “Now, it’s difficult to know (how serious the injury is).
“He got a heavy knock on his right leg and we need to wait 24 or 48 hours to assess it better.”
Alderweireld has started every Premier League game since he joined Tottenham from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2015.
Spurs travel to Bayer Leverkusen in their third Champions League Group E game on Tuesday and, with Alderweireld a doubt, Dier is likely to partner Vertonghen in the centre of defence.
