Dele reveals that he knows he has to perform better

Dele Alli has revealed that he knows he needs to be better, on the back of two 3-0 defeats in a row for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the Premier League.
Tottenham lost at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea, with goals from Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger.
It was a disappointing result for the Lilywhites, who also lost 3-0 to Crystal Palace in their last Premier League match and drew 2-2 to Rennes in their first Europa Conference League group game.
Spurs had a promising first half with their attacking line-up and looked strong but the second half was the complete opposite and they struggled to get back into the game once Chelsea got onto the score sheet.
Alli was just one out of a number of players who didn’t have a strong performance.
The 25-year-old got himself around the pitch and had phases of hard work in the London derby, but he didn’t produce much with any real quality.
He gave away the ball a good few times and seemed to make a pass and then not do much rather than giving the ball and then making a run.
The Englishman has been part of all five of Espirito Santo’s Premier League starting line-ups but has criticised his own performances so far this campaign.
“As an attacking player and midfielder, I’m not happy with my own performances,” he told Sky Sports.
“I’m not creating or scoring enough.”
Despite the loss, the Spurs defenders didn’t have an awful game and it seemed that the issues came more in the middle of the pitch.
Alli also explained that it isn’t just his performances that need to be improved.
“We need to start finishing chances and create more,” the midfielder said.
“As a team, a lot of positives but 3-0 we can’t be happy and we need to look back on it and bounce back in another big game at the week.”
Tottenham are still looking for this creativity in midfield and will be hoping with the return of Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele to the starting XI, they can help the team with some of this creativity.
After Sundays performance, all of the Tottenham team have room for improvement and will need to regroup quickly ahead of a tough week.
Spurs face Wolves in the Carabao Cup, when they travel to Molineux on Wednesday before their North London Derby at The Emirates next Sunday.
