Tottenham are feeling “optimistic” about Erik Lamela’s return from a problematic hip injury, according to Mauricio Pochettino.
Lamela has not played for Spurs since October’s EFL Cup defeat to Liverpool after picking up the problem in training.
The 24-year-old has spent time in Rome in an effort to recover, having missed a total of 20 games in all competitions during his spell on the sidelines.
The midfielder is now back in north London continuing his rehabilitation and while Pochettino is reluctant to put a time frame on Lamela’s return, he is pleased his countryman’s outlook is positive.
“Erik Lamela is taking it step by step. The good thing is the injured players are all very positive, that’s important,” Pochettino said.
“With Erik Lamela we are very happy, positive and optimistic but I cannot give the date that maybe he starts to work.”
