Former Tottenham winger David Ginola has been left raving over the job that chairman Daniel Levy is doing at the club and says they should be an example to follow.
The club are currently sitting third in the Premier League table, level on points with second placed Manchester United, as they look to be involved in the top flight title race for the third consecutive season.
The last campaign saw Spurs finish as runners up to an imperious Chelsea side, while the season before the Lilywhites pushed shock winners Leicester City all the way before slipping to a defeat on the final day to finish third.
However Ginola says that the way the club is being run by Levy, with calculated spending in the transfer market and excellent decisions taking place behind closed doors, means that the club should be seen as a shining example of success.
Speaking to International Business Times, who report that Spurs parted with just £61.4million in the summer window despite bringing in five new faces, the Frenchman said: “Look at this season so far, they are doing great, things are looking very promising for the future.
“When they sold Gareth Bale, they sold him for a €100m and they then spent a €100m, but it wasn’t money spent wisely
“It seems that it is not about the money you spend. The way they (Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino) have managed the team, the squad, the club, you can hear from anyone out there that this should be taken as an example.
“This is something we should be proud of.”
Spurs return to Premier League action after the international break with a north London derby against fierce rivals Arsenal, who sit four points behind the Lilywhites in sixth.
