Heung-Min Son wanted to leave

Mauricio Pochettino has openly told the press that forward Heung-Min Son wanted to leave Tottenham this summer.

The South Korean forward struggled in his first season after an injury – despite initially impressing. Following representing his country at the Olympics, Son reportedly returned to WHL requesting a transfer back to Germany with Wolfsburg interested.

Speaking after Son’s man of the match display against Sunderland, Pochettino said:

“last season was tough for him… He came to see me and said he needed my help, and I said: OK, always my door is open”

“After the Olympic Games his idea was to leave to go to Germany… In his mind, he would like to move but in the end he accepted the decision to stay and fight for his position”.

Son has been our stand out player in each of our last two Premier League fixtures. He looks hungry to prove a point and is putting doubters (like me) in their places.

Keep it up Son!
