Is Sissoko winning over fans?

Moussa Sissoko struggled to impact the first team in his first season, however, is now playing regularly. Is the Frenchman now winning over fans?

during the Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland at White Hart Lane on September 18, 2016 in London, England.

Let’s be honest, nobody wanted Moussa Sissoko when he joined. Fans were baffled by his signing, splashing £30m on him and becoming our most expensive player in the process. Sissoko, a divisive figure, had just come off the back of a terrible season at relegated Newcastle but also an impressive spell for France at the Euros.

Spurs gambled that we’d see the latter performances from the Euros, however, Sissoko looked off the pace in any game he played.

This season he has found regular game time. Regular starters Victor Wanyama, Harry Winks and Mousa Dembele have been injured – giving Sissoko the chance to play in his favoured centre midfield role. His performance against Everton was the catalyst to some more powerful and energetic displays since. Last night was possibly his best game yet for Spurs, picking up an assist for Kane’s second.

Sissoko has taken his chance so far but will need to continue this form to keep out the returning Wanyama and Dembele. For now though, Sissoko might just be winning over fans.
