Mauricio Pochettino is not concerned by Vincent Janssen’s lack of goals and feels its only a matter of time before the striker hits the ground running. Janssen has scored once in 14 appearances – a penalty against Gillingham in the League Cup.
The Dutch striker scored during the international break for Holland and went close when hitting the bar against Bayer Leverkusen. Pochettino still has faith that Janssen will come good:
“It is true we and he would be happier if he was scoring, but it’s a normal process,”
“He wants to show he has the quality to score and maybe he puts a lot of pressure on himself… In the end, we need to calm him, say: ‘Yes, good, don’t worry, work hard, keep going and you will ensure you will score’.”
“He is not frustrated, he is disappointed,” added Pochettino, whose side are third in the Premier League… He’s come from Holland and always those players from outside need time. He only needs time.”
