Kane labels squads attitude and lack of passion as “embarrassing”

Harry Kane has labelled the attitude and lack of passion from the Tottenham Hotspur squad as ’embarrassing’.
Before Spurs got back on track with a 2-0 victory at Aston Villa before the international, they put in two woeful defeats within four days.
First they meekly surrendered in the north London derby at Arsenal and then collapsed completely in Croatia to throw away a 2-0 first leg lead to crash out of the Europa League with a 3-0 defeat at Dinamo Zagreb.
After the match in Croatia, Spurs skipper Hugo Lloris criticised his team-mates and called out those he felt were complaining about not being in the starting XI rather than supporting the team.
Jose Mourinho accused some of his players of hiding in the north London derby defeat and apologised to the Spurs fans for the performance in Zagreb.
Kane has also gone in hard on the team, including himself, after the welcome win at Villa Park.
“We know we dropped below our standards and the worst part of that is probably our attitude, in terms of how were on the pitch,” he told the club website.
“You can lose football matches, you can have games where the opposition are better, but that wasn’t really the case.
“We didn’t have any fight, any passion and that’s embarrassing from our point of view as players, we’re the ones on the pitch and we have to control that.
“It’s a shame because we were on a good run before that, but we did a really good job at Villa and bounced back in the right way.”
Kane, who scored at Villa to make it 27 goals and 16 assists for him this season, added: “That’s what we need, and it’s not just for one game, it can’t be like a switch, on and off, it needs to be every game we play in.
“We’ve nine more in the Premier League now, we’ve a cup final to play, we’ve just got to focus on every game and if we have this attitude, I’m sure we’ll be alright.”
