Kane praises Pochettino’s achievements at Spurs

Harry Kane has praised Mauricio Pochettino’s achievements at Tottenham but has urged his team-mates to push on and secure some silverware.

Spurs could still face a battle to keep hold of Pochettino but England striker Kane feels they are on the verge of something big in north London.

“We are fully behind the manager, we love the way he works,” he said.

“We’ve built a great team and a great unit over the last three or four years.

“It’s down to us to continue that and take another step forward. We are still in all the competitions. It’s about turning that into a trophy.

“He [Pochettino] has a great personality. He’s a great manager, but he’s a great guy off the pitch as well. He treats you like a friend, but he earns that respect from you.

“He’s great to talk to, but, most importantly, he is a great coach and we all want to play for him.”

Spurs go into the game at Wembley in confident mood, having won seven of their last eight matches in all competitions.

They also claimed victory in the away game with United in the league 3-0 in August.

Kane scored the opening goal at Old Trafford and he feels they no longer always go into big matches as second favourites.

“Over the last few years, we have turned that around,” he added.

“We were always the ones going into these games as the underdog and now some of these games we are going into as favourites, especially at home.

“United will come and try to play with a lot of energy because they haven’t played in midweek, and we have to make sure we match that.

“When we match their intensity, keep the ball and make it hard for them, that’s when we can do damage.”
