Harry Kane says Wembley can be Tottenham ’s home from home as they look to carry their Stoke swagger into the Champions League.
Spurs returned to form in style to smash the Potters 4-0 , ahead of their opening group match against French side Monaco on Wednesday.
After racking up four goals on the road on Saturday, striker Kane is confident switching home European games to the national stadium because of building work at White Hart Lane will not harm their chances.
“A lot of us have played there already, so it feels like even more of a home,” said the England international, who ended his personal goal drought with the visitors’ fourth.
“Everyone knows how iconic Wembley is, but that’s what we’ve got to be careful of — Monaco are going to come here and it’s a big occasion for them as well.
“We have to make sure we’re ready for that.”
Spurs’ neighbours Arsenal won just once in six Champions League games they played at Wembley in the 1990s, but Kane has higher hopes for a group also containing CSKA Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen.
He said: “We’re not there just to participate. We want to go as far as we can.
“We feel we have a group that we can definitely qualify from. A good start is important.”
