Loan Watch: CCV impresses

Cameron Carter-Vickers is the pick of the bunch this week for our players away on loan.

With Tottenham strengthening defensively this summer, Cameron Carter-Vickers was allowed to leave on loan for some much needed first team experience. He started his first game for Sheffield United last night and instantly made a name for himself – scoring the only goal of the game.

This has prompted Blades supporters to flood twitter with praise for the young American. A promising start to life in Yorkshire.

Fellow Championship loanee, Josh Onomah, was a notable absentee during Aston Villa’s 0-0 draw against Middlesbrough.  Villa manager Steve Bruce said “Josh has a knock, which he got late on Saturday,” said Bruce. “He wasn’t quite 100% but he should be okay for the weekend, hopefully,“.

Connor Ogilvie continues to get plenty of game time at Gillingham, however, they remain winless this season after a 1-1 draw. Gillingham are now bottom of the table.

Finally, Anton Walkes has described his loan move to MLS side Atlanta as “one of the best decisions I’ve made so far”. Learning under former Barcelona and Argentina coach Tata Martino is helping the player and he was full of praise when speaking of his experience:

I’ve enjoyed every single moment. It has been a great experience, you’re learning so much. You have to mature on and off the pitch, so it’s a lot of adapting.

“There’s a lot more pressure, there’s no time for mistakes. In youth-team football, you’re allowed mistakes here and there because the coaches always encourage you and say you’ve got time to improve.

Walkes helped Atlanta United to a 3-0 victory over FC Dallas in the brand new 71,000 seat Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Vincent Janssen Fenerbache

Vincent Janssen made his debut for Turkish side Fenerbache at the weekend featuring in a 3-2 defeat.  Funnily enough he was playing up front with Roberto Soldado and against Adebayor (who scored).

Janssen looked off the pace but is expected to start again.
