The Sun report that Jose Mourinho wants to sign Eric Dier as a long term replacement for Michael Carrick.
The Manchester United manager has long been an admirer of Dier and would pay around £40m for the versatile player. Mourinho is worried about the threat of the teams around him including Spurs and plans to spend big this summer.
A move for Dier would be similar to that of Michael Carrick’s transfer to United from Spurs in 2006. However, things are different at White Hart Lane now and Tottenham are working hard to keep their best players. Daniel Levy would make any transfer extremely difficult, prolonged and costly should United prise away the England international.

What a Dier piece of journalism… (I’ll see myself out).
