Mourinho looking at long term stay at Spurs

Jose Mourinho has said he may be looking to break his pattern of tenure at previous clubs and stay long term in North London.
The Spurs boss explained that he has worked quickly at various clubs to bring success and while he hopes to accelerate the process at Tottenham he can see himself changing his habits, often spending only three years at the most in one place, by being at the north London club for a long time.
“In a certain period of my career and the profile of club I was getting, we didn’t need as much time to reach success. We did it in Porto, Inter, Real, at Chelsea both times, we did it without the need of that longevity,” he said.
“Also my desire to try different things and my crazy desire to go to many countries and to try to win and get different experiences in many different countries was perfect because it was about winning and goodbye and let’s try another thing.
“The first club where I felt I need time and time was not given was at Manchester United, because I felt that I left in the middle of the process, but I learned very early to respect decisions, which I did at United.”
“We did what we did, we did what was possible to do and we move on, and I am happy, they are happy, and we have a great relationship which is something that I’m very proud always to say. When I leave clubs, I keep very good relations with everybody and United is one more example of that.
“Now in Tottenham, I know the profile of the job that I have in hand and, hopefully, up to now I am enjoying very, very much to be in the club.
“I believe that the club structure is also happy to work with me, so I see myself staying for a long time, but if we can accelerate the process, like we are accelerating, and been doing good things like we are doing, then of course we are not going to waste time.”
Mourinho turned Chelsea into title winners with an ability to win biggest of matches.
However, the Portuguese said that in building a similar work ethic at Spurs it won’t simply be about beating their rivals at the top to bring success.
“It’s not just about winning the big matches. It’s about winning almost every match. It’s about not wasting points, its about being consistent,” he said.
“Some teams they are very good against the top teams in the big matches, but then they don’t have that mentality to be solid for 10 or 11 months of competition. Other teams they are afraid of the big matches, they don’t perform, they hide themselves, they lose against the big opponents but in the smaller games they feel less pressure and they perform better.
“Both of this profile of team cannot be champions. To be champions you have to be there match after match, point after point. If you cannot get three, you get one. It’s about the quality of the team but also of the resilience of the group.
“It’s very important the mentality of every player because in different moments some players are playing more than others and the ones that in one moment aren’t playing they have to understand they are important and the moment will arrive for them to become very important.
“You cannot have fractures in the internal dynamic of the group. So to be a successful team you need all these things to be together so it’s difficult for me to identify the reason why Chelsea was the champion twice or why Liverpool is now so successful. It’s a series of factors that altogether create that dynamic.”
