Well, its the second Monday of the 2026/27 season and this my second blog about all thing Tottenham *Screams into a pillow* Sooooo its not been a great start. We have had two games since my last blog so lets break this down.
League Cup Vs Charlton.
Savio made his debut off the bench against Charlton (who had rotated 10 players from their league win over West Ham) and our new signing grabbed a goal and an assist (I mean, really two goals but Davies claimed it… lad)
Kevin Danso also got his first goal for the club in what now seems like it might be his final appearance. I will admit, that has shocked me but the player has been offered first team football at other clubs and now its just the clubs agreeing a fee and the player picking where he goes.
Big Kev has been great for us, reliable and also off the field a fantastic character who fully embraced not only the fandom but local charity work.
The game was a 5-1 win, their goal coming as we made changes and switched off from a set piece, however its the scoreline the game should be when a Prem side plays a Championship clubs reserves. There were no real lessons from it beyond more minutes for players together which given how shambolic we looked in our opening game (still not convinced our new signings had met each other) this was not a bad thing and our first home game of the season against Newcastle we could hopefully show more.

Premier League Vs Newcastle.
Well. Shit.
As the game started I was concerned that we have spent so much and yet the best right back at the World Cup is playing Right Wing and a 20yr old midfielder is playing Right Back and Newcastle were targeting that flank constantly.
We did however grow into the game in the first half and I was impressed a few times with passing combinations from the back, through midfield and into attack with Marmoush on debut impressing.
Should we have had a penalty? I find this a tough one as me personally I always feel those are harsh on the defender HOWEVER they are normally given, against us a number of times last season, so I was expecting VAR to grant us the penalty but it never came.
Once Newcastle scored sadly I felt the game was over. What is worrying is just like under Thomas Frank we do not create enough and when we do create we are not taking our chances. I felt that game could have been 10 hours long and we were still not going to score.
I am worried, of course I am. We have spent a massive amount to be two games, no goals and no points and rock bottom of the league. HOWEVER I am not hitting the panic button yet as I do believe there are signs in this squad of play developing – the only worry is can it happen fast enough.
The clubs owners and board made it clear, last season, can never happen again so I do wonder how patient will they be with a manager on massive money, who has spent a massive amount and now cannot get a goal let alone a point.
I believe 10 games is fair to judge where we are; we are three down and I am hoping for a much better display against Nottingham Forest next weekend – although watching them take on Liverpool at Anfield of course has me nervous.
Choosing to believe it will click and soon… a full week to focus on Forest and prepare… COYS!
