Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted the club are “evaluating” Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier as a potential summer signing.
The England right-back has struggled to recapture his best form for Spurs this season after a stellar World Cup, while manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to “rebuild” his squad this summer – and says it will be “painful”.
In his pre-match press conference, ahead of Napoli’s Serie A clash with Cagliari on Sunday, Ancelotti said: “All I can say is that they’re both [Trippier and Lozano] players we’re evaluating.
“So, to be honest, I can only confirm our appreciation of the player. Now we have to start proceeding with the analysis.”
Spurs have since signed Serge Aurier and seen the emergence of youth talent Kyle Walker-Peters in that position, but Trippier had maintained his place as first-choice in a superb 2017-18 campaign leading up to the World Cup.
But he has struggled for form and made a number of mistakes this season, despite maintaining his place as Pochettino’s preferred choice at right full-back.
