Nuno set to be disappointed in Traore chase

Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo looks set to be left disappointed – with his hopes of linking up with his former player Adama Traore fading. The Portuguese manager worked with Traore at Wolves, and is clearly a huge fan of the pacy Spanish winger.
It was reported that he instructed Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici to make signing Traore a priority in the summer, but despite big speculation a move never came to pass after Wolves set a price-tag of £50m.
Nuno was believed to hold out hope of a renewed bid in January, with Traore’s future far from certain.
But according to the Daily Mail the 25-year-old is now set to commit to Wolves, and will soon put pen to paper on a new 100,000-a-week contract to make him one of the club’s best-paid players along with Raul Jimenez and Joao Moutinho.
The news is unlikely to improve Nuno’s mood, and with so much going wrong he may be left already regretting taking the Spurs job.
The 47-year-old is coming under huge pressure after losing three games in a row in the Premier League, and their clash against Aston Villa this weekend could well be make or break.
When asked recently whether he thinks the players still believe in him, Nuno was defiant in his answer, saying: “Yeah, totally.
“There’s no doubts about that because we work together every day, we prepare together and these moments we need to stick together and the belief is the first step to do things and we have it.
“You have to realise sometimes it’s not possible. Sometimes opponents is better than you and you have to be humble to give credit and sometimes you don’t perform. Sometimes the plan is no good. The belief in all of us is here.”
