Rodgers wary of Spurs threat

Brendan Rodgers recognises the attacking threat Tottenham possess, despite their push for the Champions League faltering after no shots on target in their past two games.

“Hopefully it’s three,” he said. “But they have very talented players and are well coached in the system they play.

“Harry Kane is a world-class striker and has proven that for the past few years. Apart from against Leicester, I love watching him play.

“With Kane and Son Heung-min’s quality, they score and create goals.”

Rodgers also concedes he “will never know” how Leicester lost to Spurs last time they met.

Leicester were leading 2-1 at King Power Stadium in January until the 95th minute, when Steven Bergwijn equalised before the Dutch forward scored a dramatic winner straight from the kick-off.

“To draw a game like that would have been bad enough,” he said. “But to lose was incredible.

“They’ve a very talented team. Antonio Conte has been very clear in how they want to play. They have top players who can make that system very efficient.

“The new players they have brought in have done really well. So it is up to us to play with quality.”
