Schalke delighted to have Bentaleb

Schalke club chief Christian Heidel has spoken to the German press about his delight at capturing Spurs midfielder Nabil Bentaleb on loan, with a view to a permanent deal.

He said: “We are lucky to have brought in Bentaleb. There were been plenty of offers for him, and quite large sums proposed by Premier League clubs.

“But we have been lucky because Daniel Levy, the chairman at Tottenham did not want to sell him in England to a rival club. In the end, we managed to obtain his arrival on loan.”

This is not the first time that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has sold abroad rather than cash in for more money to a potential rival team.

Bentaleb has started his loan well in German earning high praise from fans and his new manager alike.

Nabil only signed a new long term contract with Spurs in the summer of 2015 however last season he fell down the pecking order with Spurs manager Pochettino believed to be annoyed at the players public contract outburst and lack of intensity in training once his contract was resolved.
