Spurs bid for Pulisic

Tottenham Hotspur have made a £44million bid for Borrusia Dortmund wonderkid Christian Pulisic as they look to beat Manchester United to his signature, according to reports.

The American playmaker, 19, is one of the biggest talents in European football, with Arsenal and Liverpool also previously linked.

Pulisic broke into the Dortmund first team in January 2016 as a 17-year-old, and has already made 97 appearances for the club, providing 12 goals and 20 assists.

According to Kicker, Spurs have made him a top priority this summer, hoping to add depth to their forward line and beat United, the team he supported as a kid, to Pulisic’s signing.

Although Heung-Min Son, Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen currently hold a monopoly over the three attacking midfield spots at White Hart Lane, back ups are said to be a concern.

Erik Lamela has failed to impress in his five seasons at the club since a £26m move from Roma, while £25m January signing Lucas Moura plated just six Premier league games in his first half season with Spurs.

The bid for Pulisic is almost as much Spurs paid for Lamela and Lucas combined and would be the second highest fee ever paid for a teenager.

The American played for Brackley Town’s academy while living in England for a year as a seven-year-old, before moving back to the States to live in his Pennsylvania home.

He made the switch to Germany in 2015, and has gone on to represent his country 21 times so far, scoring an impressive 9 goals.
