Tottenham expect to complete a deal to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa despite Chelsea’s attempts to hijack the move, reports claim. Maurizio Sarri’s side are planning to make a £20m move for the midfielder under the noses of Spurs, just like they did with Willian in the summer of 2013. However, Spurs themselves feel they are close to agreeing a deal with Aston Villa and are confident of getting the deal over the line before Thursday’s transfer deadline, according to The Evening Standard. The report claims Villa are likely to reject an opening bid from Spurs expected to be around the £20m mark, but Daniel Levy is confident he can negotiate a deal before the deadline.
Tottenham have been monitoring the progress of Grealish for months and the player himself has indicated that he wants Villa to sanction his move to north London.
Grealish is expecting the deal to be finalised in the coming days, at which point he would become Tottenham’s first signing of the window.
