Tottenham have finally secured their first signing in a year with the club record purchase of Colombian international Davinson Sanchez. The former Ajax defender joins other former Ajax veterans Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Christian Eriksen in the Spurs ranks.
Sanchez, who turned 21 in June was the Ajax player of year for 2016/17 and was voted in the team of the tournament for the Europa League as Ajax made the final. His performance in that competition caught the eye of every major team with Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Chelsea interested in him.
Its believed that a conversation with Mauricio Pochettino however convinced the player that for his development signing for Spurs was the best option and the opportunity to play games at Wembley and feature in the Champions League could not be turned down.
Time will tell if he is brought straight into the side and if Spurs will now revert to a back three or if Pochettino has other plans for the rapidly quick defender.
