Tottenham are ready to battle Arsenal for Sevilla star Steven Nzonzi, according to reports in Spain
Nzonzi has been identified by both north London clubs as a target as they look to bolster their midfields.
And Marca claim Tottenham are ‘waiting to make their move’ while Unai Emery is also believed to be monitoring his situation.
Tottenham are yet to sign a new player this summer having prioritised new contracts for manger Mauricio Pochettino and Harry Kane.
They are also hoping to generate funds by selling the likes of Danny Rose, Mousa Dembele, Erik Lamela, Moussa Sissoko and Toby Alderweireld, but none have left yet.
Tottenham were set to spend big this summer to put on a title challenge next term, but they only have a month left to operate with the transfer deadline before the start of the season.
Arsenal have been busy and are set to announce the fourth and fifth signings under Unai Emery.
Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi also closing in on signing for the club after undergoing medicals yesterday.
Emery worked with Nzonzi at Sevilla and is keen on a deal for the France ace.
Nzonzi is with France in Russia for the World Cup so he is unlikely to decide on his future until after the weekend but is believed to be keen on a return to England.
The 29-year-old spent six years in England with Blackburn and Stoke before moving to Sevilla in 2015.
He was a late bloomer on the international stage, making his debut last year, but is with Didier Deschamps’ squad for the World Cup and has seven caps, appearing from the start in the final group game.
