Spurs reject £10m offer for out of favour midfielder

Tottenham reject £10million offer from Schalke for out-of-favour midfielder Nabil Bentaleb.
The Algerian international burst onto the scene under Tim Sherwood two years ago but has fallen down the pecking order under Mauricio Pochettino.
Schalke have had a £10million bid for midfielder Nabil Bentaleb rejected by Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy.
The French-born 21-year-old Algerian midfielder has been told by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino there is no place for him at White Hart Lane after the arrival of Victor Wanyama and the emergence of England star Dele Alli.
That alerted Schalke who are seeking midfield reinforcements after selling German international hot-shot Leroy Sane to Manchester City and losing last season’s loanee Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
The Bundesliga side banked £37million from City and have cash to spend – but they have fallen short of Tottenham’s £15million valuation of Bentaleb.
The youngster impressed when he first broke into the Spurs first team under former boss Tim Sherwood in December 2013.
But Argentinian coach Pochettino has a clear vision for Spurs – and Bentaleb isn’t in the picture.
Tottenham expect Schalke to return with an improved bid for Bentaleb who is also attracting interest from at least three Premier League clubs.
