Squad Depth

After the game yesterday Mauricio Pochettino was again quick to praise Heung-Min Son. The South Korean has been amazing so far this season and has stepped up in Harry Kane’s absence.

Pochettino also praised Kevin-Georges N’Koudou’s impact off the bench:

Now you can see all the players are key,” Pochettino said. “That is important to learn about the whole season because you never know when players can become key for the team.

“Maybe I am boring you about that, it is true some players play more than others, but always it is important you need all the players ready to compete.

“Some players in specific moments, that player who has not achieved much can be important for achieving important things.

When Pochettino talks about squad depth this is what he is getting at.

GK: Lloris, Vorm, Lopez

RB: Walker, Trippier, Walker-Peters

CB: Alderweireld, Carter-Vickers

CB: Vertonghen, Wimmer

LB: Rose, Davies, Walkes

CDM: Dier, Wanyama

CDM: Dembele, Sissoko, Winks

RAM: Lamela, Onomah

CAM: Eriksen, Alli, Carroll

LAM: Son, N’Koudou, Edwards

ST: Kane, Janssen

A fantastic squad of players and as Pochettino hints at – this is his first season where he can rotate the squad and still have a competitive team. Where we dropped off at the end of last season due to fatigue – this season we should be able to maintain our high standards.
