Tottenham 4-1 West Ham

Pre-match.

It’s cup final day!! Oh, I mean, if you’re a West Ham fan it is anyway!

What a boring two weeks that’s been. I find international breaks really drag; although after our last game against Brighton this break was very much needed!  After losing the way we did after being comfortable at half time, I didn’t want to hear about Spurs for a while.

BUT I’m sure many Tottenham fans will understand and relate to this – Supporting Spurs is a lot like being in a very toxic relationship.  One minute you’re so happy and everything is looking really bright, the next minute they suddenly let you down, break your heart and all you want to do is get away from them and go on a break!

Once you’ve calmed down, give it a week or two and the only thing you want is for them them to come back. So, you’ve guessed it, I forgive you Tottenham and I’m ready for your return!

Team news – Sonny is back!!

Half time.

Well that didn’t take long. Conceding in just 18 minutes and suddenly the shouting, swearing and stress begins.  As expected we have the majority of possession as usual but we miss too many chances!

It’s something I’m finding myself saying too often, but we really need to work on our set pieces.  In particular…  CORNERS!  We have had a staggering 12 corners in just the first half and we really should be putting the ball in the back of the net from at least one of those!

Our most stand out player of the first half was easily Kulusevski. Not just because of the goal, but from his all round play. The runs and movement on and off the ball, he has been absolutely brilliant to watch.

It is vital that in the second half we find a way to stop Kudus getting through so easily.  Not an easy task, as that is a very talented player they have there!

Post match.

What a game and what a second half!  Now that is what you call a derby; it had everything!  Well, I did say we needed to find a way of stopping Kudus – he did that all by himself!

When we took Maddison off at half time I thought that was going to be a big mistake but what a move from Ange Postecoglou! People are very fast to blame him when things don’t go our way, but massive credit to Ange today.  Pape Sarr really changed the game for us, it gave us energy and it freed up Kulusevski even more.

Securing those early goals into the second half was just what we needed.  I have to mention that ball from Sarr through to Son which lead to the goal, that was just beautiful.

I mentioned Kulusevski’s stand out performance in the first half and he certainly didn’t disappoint in the second half either. That has to be, personally, one of my favourite performances of Dejan’s since joining Tottenham. It was no surprise he was given Man of The Match.

I would like to finish by adding how much of a huge impact it was having Son back today.  Not only have we missed his undoubted talent within the squad, but just having his presence on the pitch really helps make us a team.  He brings us together.  Very happy to have you back Captain Sonny!

A fantastic performance from Spurs, it really is great to have the Premier League back.  Now we can relax, smile and enjoy the rest of our weekend!

COYS!
