Mauricio Pochettino will reunite with his former club Southampton who travel to Wembley to play Spurs tonight.
Tottenham Hotspur will be looking to get back to winning ways this evening as they face Southampton in the Premier League.
After a hugely disappointing defeat against Arsenal on Sunday, Spurs are determined to put that behind them and look forward to regaining their undefeated streak by getting all three points against Southampton.
Mauricio Pochettino has said that he is unsure what to expect with Southampton’s approach tonight, after the recent sacking of their manager Mark Hughes. Southampton have today revealed that they have appointed former RB Leipzig manager, Ralph Hasenhüttl, as the new Southampton boss. Hasenhüttl is said to be attending Wembley for the match this evening, but it is understood that he will not be taking charge officially until tomorrow whilst Kelvin Davis, first-team coach, has stepped in temporarily for the clash against Spurs.
It is important Tottenham gain all three points against Southampton to ensure they still remain amongst the top four contenders and don’t let the loss on Sunday affect their confidence by slipping behind.
Tottenham’s recent defence has seen an upset and concern with the Spurs supporters after defender, Toby Alderweireld, was surprisingly left on the bench in the North London Derby which saw Tottenham struggle tremendously at the back and subsequently lost 4-2 against their rivals. Alderweireld will be a fan favourite to start this evening as fellow Belgian, Jan Vertonghen, will not be eligible following a ban due to his sending off against Arsenal. However, there is no certainty that Alderweireld will make the selection after Pochettino said: “We’ll see. There are different options, [Eric] Dier can play there too. We come from a competitive week and we are going to face another competitive week. We’re going to play a lot of games before January. It’s so important to keep all involved and in the best condition to compete. Some players maybe we cannot rotate for different circumstances.”
Tonight will be a very important match for both sides who will be striving for a win. Southampton saw out a draw when they played Manchester United last out and will surely be hoping to improve from that by getting all three points. Tottenham will also be heading into the game with as much passion and desire, with the hope of bouncing back and restoring the incredible strength, faith and belief that they have.
