Ben Davies chance to impress

Tottenham have two quality left backs in Ben Davies and Danny Rose. It’s difficult to pick between them in terms of ability and each bring different attributes to the side. Rose offers more attacking whilst Davies is probably better defensively.

Rose is Pochettino’s favoured option – starting the majority of the league games last season and all of the league games this season. However, he has picked up a hamstring injury on England international duty which means he will not feature tomorrow against Stoke. This offers Davies a chance to deputise.

Ben Davies is more than capable of becoming a first team regular but he will need to impress tomorrow if he wants to make sure he is still first choice when Rose is fit. He’ll have a tricky afternoon on the cards containing Stoke’s wingers.

But he has proved himself on the big stage when given the chance. Playing for Wales at the Euros, Davies  was a stand out performer and helped Wales go all the way to the semi-finals. Another display like those shown at the Euros and Davies could cement his place in Pochettino’s first team.
