Best signing of the summer?

It’s debatable whether the summer transfer window was a success or not. Personally I’d say the signings of Wanyama, Janssen, Sissoko, N’Koudou and Lopez strengthen our side and are an improvement on the fringe players that have left. However, comparing our transfer activity to our rivals and it’s understandable why some feel a little dejected.

However, one signing that went under the radar was Spurs “wonder kid” Marcus Edwards. The 17 year old impressed in his pre-season appearances and gave us fans a chance to see the talent coming through our youth ranks.

Edwards

Edwards is seen as one of the most promising young players in the English game and the “new Messi” (sorry!) had been linked with Barcelona among other European giants. After long drawn out contract negotiations, Daniel Levy finally tied down Edwards to a senior contract – preventing him being poached by other clubs.

This is especially important given that our Under 18’s coach Kieran McKenna has left the club to join Manchester United in the same position. McKenna may look to poach our talented players and Edwards would have been first on the list.

Fantastic news to keep our talented youngster and I can’t wait to see Edwards break into the first team. COYS!
