Lamela out – Sissoko in?

Mauricio Pochettino is planning to drop Erik Lamela for Saturday’s game against Stoke in favour of new signing Mousa Sissoko according to reports.

Lamela hasn’t put a foot wrong in the first 3 games of the season and will feel hard done by if he is dropped to the bench. It will be especially difficult to see Sissoko, who is yet to feature in a league game this season, start ahead of him.

However, the reasoning behind the change makes sense. Lamela will be featuring for Argentina against Venezuela this week and will have a 10 hour flight on Thursday back to London. This leaves little preparation and rest for the Stoke game.

Sissoko hasn’t featured in the league for Newcastle this season but did play for France in their victory over Italy. He came on after 63′ minutes and looked match fit and ready to start his season.

Tottenham have missed a powerful forward thinking figure this season and Sissoko will bring that in abundance.

Sissoko’s arrival at White Hart Lane is a timely one and could have a big role to play on Saturday.
