Foyth move close

The rumours/news surrounding Juan Foyth seem to be gathering momentum with the latest being a deal is almost in place.

The young Argentine defender will likely cost around £8.5m which, in this transfer window, seems a fair investment. However, this is where there could be 2 stumbling blocks. The first potential issue are that Estudiantes are requesting a 6 month loan back. In past seasons we have seen this request go two ways – Dele Alli (successful) and Moussa Dembele (unsuccessful). It really depends on how Pochettino see’s Foyth’s role in the coming season.

The second bump in the road could be the Argentian club’s demand for a sell-on clause. You can understand their insistence on this – the player will likely improve and see his value inflate. A sell-on clause could see the club profit considerably in the future. Daniel Levy is a notorious tough negotiator and could pull the plug on any deal. With that said, Kyle Walker reportedly had a 10% sell-on clause in his contract. This has seen Sheffield United pocket around £5m.

In any case, the transfer seems to be very close. It’s up to the powers that be to iron out the finer details.
