Stop the press! Tottenham have made a bid for a player!
Well, that’s what the latest rumours suggest anyway. Don’t get too excited though, the bid has been rejected already by Real Madrid. According to media outlet AS, Tottenham offered £22m for Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
The 23 year old made 39 appearances for the Spanish champions but is very much an understudy to bigger names at the club including ex Spurs midfielder Luka Modric. Still, his importance and abilities to the team are enough that Real turned down the approach.
It’s thought that Pochettino rates the midfielder highly and wants to build the team around the creative player. It remains to be seen whether we will return with an improved offer.
