Kyle Walker believes in Vincent Janssen

Kyle Walker believes Vincent Janssen can lift the pressure off Tottenham striker Harry Kane in their bid for Premier League glory this season.

Kane has netted just once this season but is expected to lead the line when Spurs welcome Sunderland on on Sunday.

Meanwhile Janssen is yet to open his account, having come off the bench in four of his five appearances this season – the 22-year-old’s only start coming against Crystal Palace in August.

“Harry [Kane] led the line fantastically well last season, Obviously Vincent is more of a target man who likes to get his body in there and protect the ball.”

“He brings another dimension to our game and it is something we can use, rather than letting Harry go up there all alone and try and dog it out.”

Walker insists that Tottenham strengthened well over the summer, with competition for places fiercer than ever following the arrivals of Moussa Sissoko, Victor Wanyama and Kevin N’Koudou in addition to Janssen.

“If you look at the squad now, it’s fantastic. It’s very healthy with cover in all positions,” Walker added.

“It’s something that keeps us on our toes because there’s always people snapping at your ankles who want to get your shirt if you’re in the starting XI.”
