Poch: Alli form has dropped

Mauricio Pochettino is not a happy chappy at the moment. This can be seen in each and every interview that the manager takes in recent weeks.

Alli

It’s understandable that he will be frustrated by the questions of Wembley and questions on his tactics following a 0-0 stalemate against Swansea, but the manager seems to be offering less protection of his players now. Youngster Marcus Edwards was dismissed as not ready for first team selection, whilst fan favourite and midfield powerhouse was inadvertently criticised for his lack of goals.

Now, Pochettino has told the media that Alli has had a dip in form. He confirmed that the England international will start against Barnsley tonight in a bid to regain his goalscoring performances.

Yes, he is going to play,” Pochettino said. “I think he is still very young. His potential is massive. He did very well last season and it’s not easy for a young player to keep this level and show this level in every game. It is about maturity. It’s about finding your balance in training, competing, in your life, everything.

Pochettino did also say he would offer support to Alli and any player who needs it and see’s tonight as the perfect opportunity to help Alli. He will also rotate his squad to give players a chance that haven’t played much this season.
