Following Pochettino’s press conference today, we have a few clues as to the type of team he will field against Barnsley.
Erik Lamela, Danny Rose and Victor Wanyama remain injured and will not feature. Pochettino also dismissed chances of youngster Marcus Edwards featuring against the Championship side – stating that he is not physically ready. This is a major disappointment for the player and us fans who are eager to watch him play. He did however hint that midfielder Tashan Oakley-Boothe could play.
Pochettino said that it’s a priority for Tottenham to compete in all 4 competitions:
“Tomorrow we want to win and we are going to play to win. We want to go as far as possible in this competition.”
He also said that he will rotate the squad to include players who haven’t had much game time.
As such, I believe the team could look something like this:
