Pochettino believes Kane is in his “best form”

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino believes striker Harry Kane is at is best despite failing to score against Newcastle United.

Spurs won the game 2-1 at St James’ Park but Kane was, more often than not playing slightly deeper and getting involved in creating moves rather than finishing them.

It wasn’t a bad display from the hard-working frontman but a goal-less game continues his August drought, which has now been extended to 14 games across his career.

But his manager has backed him despite the run and believes he’s in top form, even when he isn’t hitting the back of the net.

Asked if the striker was still to return to his best form, Pochettino said: “For me, he is in his best form whether he scores or doesn’t score. I don’t have any doubt that he’s in his best form. He worked a lot for the team and I’m sure that he’s going to score.

“But he can’t score three goals in every game.”
