Mauricio Pochettino hopes to welcome back Christian Eriksen and captain Hugo Lloris for Wednesday’s mouthwatering Champions League clash against Barcelona. Spurs’ European campaign got off to false start against Inter a fortnight ago when late goals from Mauro Icardi and Matias Vecino cancelled out Eriksen’s opener and condemned Pochettino to a third straight defeat for the first time since he took charge of the north London club. Tottenham have recovered and strung together a hat-trick of wins without Lloris, who suffered a thigh injury during last month’s 3-0 win over Manchester United. Michel Vorm and Paulo Gazzaniga have deputised for the France World Cup winner, but, according to the Telegraph, the 31-year-old could be set for his first appearance since pleading guilty to a charge of drink driving.
Eriksen, meanwhile, missed Saturday’s 2-0 win at Huddersfield with a stomach injury, but trained on Monday.
Pochettino, however, is still sweating on the fitness of Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele, both of whom were withdrawn at half-time at the John Smith’s Stadium.
