Tottenham have made a number of offers for Espanyol goalkeeper Pau Lopez, the Catalan club have told Sky Sports News HQ.
But they have disclosed they “did not accept any of them” and ‘Pau’ was on the bench as Espanyol were thrashed 6-4 by Sevilla in their opening La Liga game of the season on Saturday.
Sky sources reported last week that Spurs were interested in the young Spanish goalkeeper, who worked with Mauricio Pochettino when he was in charge at the Cornella-El Prat.
Spurs have been keen to sign a new young ‘keeper for the future for some time and Sky sources understand their pursuit of the 21-year-old is not related to an injury suffered by Hugo Lloris.
Lloris is out for four weeks with a hamstring problem, with the experienced Michel Vorm playing instead during the 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Pochettino also has academy ‘keepers Luke McGee and Tom Glover, who both went on their pre-season tour to Australia, to deputise.
