Spurs end League Wembley “curse”. Now it’s over to Kane.

Tottenham ended their so-called Wembley league hoodoo on Saturday afternoon when they won a home game at the fourth time of asking, beating Bournemouth 1-0 thanks to a 47th minute Eriksen strike, to move up to third in the table. But despite scoring six goals in the league already this season, Kane is yet to score at home.

It’s certainly not for the want of trying though, as he has racked up twenty-eight shots on goal at Wembley in the league, with ten of those on target.

To be fair to Kane, he has never been the type of player to allow unwanted records affect him. Speaking after the loss to Chelsea at Wembley, he was reminded of his inability to score in August, but the two-time golden boot winner said:

“Sometimes the ball does not go in, as it didn’t against Chelsea with one off the post and the few chances I had. It is part of the game, I just need to keep working hard, keep my head down and I am sure the goals will come.”

For a player whose goals come so easily away from home, it does seem strange that he hasn’t found the net in the league at home this season, but it’s easy to get carried away. We are only in the middle of October, there are still another fifteen home games for him to score the amount of goals we all know he can, and most probably will.

Add that to the fact he found the net twice against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley in the Champions League means it surely won’t be long before he’s shaking the monkey off his back as he celebrates the first of many League goals at Wembley.

Kane isn’t the only player who has failed to score in his first four home Premier League games of the season, despite scoring six goals overall. The other player to do the same.. Alan Shearer in ’93-’94.
