Tottenham confident of Pochettino stay

Tottenham are said to be confident Mauricio Pochettino will not leave the club, despite his comments after Spurs were knocked out of the FA Cup semi-finals by Manchester United.

The Argentine sparked rumours he could quit the White Hart Lane outfit after claiming it may take ‘another manager’ to lead Tottenham to trophies.

Spurs suffered more heartbreak in their search for silverware as the Red Devils came back from a goal down to win 2-1 at Wembley Stadium.

Pochettino is one of the most exciting young coaches in the game and has received plaudits for his work in four years with the north London club, yet – as keeps being pointed out – he has no trophies to show for it.

But, according to The Sun, Tottenham have no fears over their manager’s future and claim his comments were ‘said in the emotion of defeat’.

The club refused to officially comment on Pochettino’s post-match remarks.

But a club source has been quoted by The Sun: “It was seen as no big deal here.

“Mauricio was just talking long-term after a disappointing day for all of us.

“Nobody at the club expects or wants him to leave. He is still very much determined to continue what he has started.”
