Tottenham’s Champions League tie with Inter Milan set to be a sell-out

Tottenham Hotspur’s Champions League encounter with Inter Milan is set to be a sell-out, according to reports in Italy.

Internazionale have already shifted around 60000 tickets in the home end, already more than last season’s average attendance.

And it’s felt the Italian giants may well now end up with a full ground as Spurs visit in Europe’s top club competition.

The reason behind the huge sales is their return to the Champions League for the first time since 2012, when they were knocked out in the round of 16.

It’s the first time the two clubs will compete in the elite tournament since 2010 when they played out two thrilling group stages matches, which announced Gareth Bale to the world.

Spurs lost 4-3 at the San Siro, despite Bale’s second-half hat-trick, while in the return match at White Hart Lane Tottenham claimed a 3-1 win over the holders, with the Welshman in dazzling form as Rafael van der Vaart, Peter Crouch, and Roman Pavlyuchenko got their goals.

The sides have since met in the Europa League with Spurs claiming victory on away goals having drawn 4-4 on aggregate.
