Dele – I need to improve my finishing

Dele Alli admits he must improve his finishing after squandering a number of chances in England’s 2-0 win over Malta at the weekend.

After appearing as a second half substitute in the Three Lions’ first World Cup qualifier against Slovakia under former manager Sam Allardyce last month, the Tottenham midfielder was restored to the starting XI by caretaker boss Gareth Southgate for the Wembley clash.

“I’ve always been looking to get goals and assists and to do that I need to be higher up the pitch,”he said.

“I missed a few chances against Malta but I’ll put that behind me and keep on improving. I’m happy to get the goal and maybe could have got a few more but I think it was important we got the win and thankfully we did that.”
